While making eggs and chicken sausage this morning, I decided to have a little dance fest in the kitchen. Elijah joined in, while Jonah, being confined to his chair, decided to wave his arms wildly about, throwing his half-eaten banana across the dining room floor. It surprised him, that he had hurled this thing across the floor - his face was hilarious! Wide eyes, then nervous laughter.

Mama, checkin' in.

*Elijah turned to me this afternoon and said, "Can I be a ladybug when I grow up?" When I asked why he wanted to be a ladybug, he at first answered "I don't know" but then stated "Because they have wings. I want some, too!" It was just really cute, how he said it :)

*Sundays consist of morning church, lunch at my parent's, copious amount of sleeping and feasting, and (as of fall) football games. After yesterday night's game (which was a late, late win) I decided to leave the boys uninterrupted, asleep in the front bedroom where they used to live. We three slept over, Jonathan drove home alone :(

Anyway, to awake in my parent's house was strange. I love that house so much, and wish we could buy it if ever they desire to move. It contains many memories, not to mention all the pragmatics - it's the perfect size; it's located in a quiet neighborhood; it has a huge porch in front, that makes morning devotionals peaceful; it has a huge yard in back (in which I would put a small in-ground pool, plant a good-sized garden, plant 2 peach trees, 1 pear tree, 1 apple tree, a couple blueberry bushes... yeah, obviously I have BIG plans ;)

We all slept soundly... except the small babe Jonah, who has been cutting teeth and growing. He was up for a midnight snack (and 2am snack, and 4:30am snack). Let me tell ya, these spontaneous lapses into no sleep are ANNOYing. Just when I get comfy... geesh!

He is preciously cute, though - sleepless or sleepful nights. And he is mine, so. There's that.

*Jonah loves his brother. Always has a smile for Elijah, always giggles at his antics. I hope I remember the sound of Jonah's laughter, and the funny faces Elijah would put on to elicit such laughter. Such a blessing.

simple saturday pleasures

This morning, Daddy and I went to the Watson's for a Christmas play meeting. Mama walked over a little later, with Jonah in the sling. We played with wooden zippy cars and farm animals. It was a hoot.

Mama had to clean houses this afternoon, so the three of us macho men battened down the hatch at home - eating organic mac n' cheese with tuna and spinach, playing Super Mario Galaxy, and tossing in the leaves outside. What a gorgeous fall day!

Tonight after Mama returned, we all packed into the car and drove into the heart of Milwaukee to try one of the best burgers in the state at Sobleman's Tallgrass Grille. I joyously gobbled up my cheese burger... while poor baby Jo was stuck with mashed peas brought from home (he needs to cut a couple more teeth before he can handle the meatiness of a cheese burger, see.) The nice cashier lady gave me a small, green Carebear toy, which I named "Four" - because of the four-leaf clover on its belly.

It was a wonderful Saturday with my family :)

Whew! It's been over a year since I wrote on this thing... I had forgotten the password! Whoopsie.

There is so much to catch you up on. Mama's been.... I mean, I HAVE been... busy. You know. The crazy life of a toddler and all that.

I will write more later. For now, it's off to have my mid-afternoon snack (xigua melon, carrots, and tuna sandwiches), and take a walk outside.

It's been a long time, dear friends! So sorry!

You know... I have been busy with life - learning to speak and walking all over and eating with spoons and forks and reading... So I've had my hands full!

My mama speaks of potty-training beginning soon! Yikes! I don't know if I like that big white porcelain bowl - it makes loud noises and sucks everything down into the depths! Hopefully, she'll just let me run around in the backyard butt-naked... no diapers, no toilets. Just earth. That's how it should be!

I have been playing with my wonderful cousins lately - I especially enjoy hanging out with Caleb. He and I are going to be best buds when we grow up. Even now - we go down slides together, we share our mama's ice cream together, we play blocks together, etc. Good times...

Speaking of blocks, my wooden blocks are beckoning my name. I should answer their call! Soon it will be dinner, then bath time, then bed. It has been one exhausting day of life... I think I'll sleep well tonight!

hello, my dear readers!

tonight, i had my nine month check up - and it proved that i am one healthy little boy! i am sleeping through the night, crawling around the house, pulling myself up to standing, cutting my first two teeth....! life is pretty good!

i am really into these finger puppets my mom's friend lisa got for me from ikea... they are a lot of fun to play with! i also am enjoying my saucer, and my new crib grandpa and grandma pond got me... it's pretty sweet. the other day, i freaked mama out by pulling myself up to standing while in my crib. it was the first time she saw me do such a thing, and i don't think she was prepared. i just giggled :) she was very proud, but swift to lower the mattress, so i couldn't tumble out... way to think, mama!

because i have two teeth in, i have been eating lots of chunked fruits and veggies with increasing ease... i especially love mom's homemade applesauce and bananas and avocado... i also had my first tastes of oatmeal and mango today. yes... i can see me liking those two things a lot!

alright, i need to get my bath and go to bed! i am tuckered out from a long walk mama and i went on today.... that, and my shots that i received tonight... darn doctors! but i did get a neat band aid! hehe

i have been pretty crabby lately, guys! once a month, it seems, i get exceptionally tired and moody... i eat more, sleep less (although i am bushed!)... i am just a growing little boy, what can i say!

mama has been taking lots of pictures with her disposable camera - many of me in the tub with my bubbles and of me eating my veggies... i love love love my solids! she's been letting me use the spoon some, and i enjoy getting my meals smashed all over my face! what fun times!

daddy and i are spending lots of time together on mondays and thursdays while mama works. on mondays, we play at home, and on thursdays, we go over to grandma and grandpa dolan's to wash my dirty diapers, clothes, and bibs. it's been lots of fun! on the days that dad has to work, mama and i take walks to the park and the market. she's only taken me swimming twice this summer - can you believe that! she keeps saying we'll go to the beach and zoo... hopefully soon! next weekend, i think mama and daddy are planning a camping night out in montague. i remember montague from when we went to this folk music coffee shop up there and the drive-in theatre. it was fun, though i slept for most of the festivities!

ok, it's time for me to go to sleep now! i'm finally sleeping back in my OWN crib! *mama says hallelujah!* :)

elijah is getting big! he' so freaking long; i often look at him and think he's older than 6 months. crazy!

just to bring some of you up to date:

1. tomorrow is elijah's half birthday! it's kinda exciting... :)

2. elijah's been eating pureed carrots and peas - loves them! i swear this baby was made for solid foods! i make all the baby food - i like it better this way, as i'm certain he's not getting anything else but the veggie! he loves to "help" mama by grabbing the spoon and holding it in his mouth. it's all fine with me, as long as he doesn't gag himself!

3. baby went on his first ferry ride across the lake about a month ago. my parents paid for a ticket for me to come over, and baby sailed free. he loved it... was rocked asleep by the tumultuous waves of lake michigan. and he played with this sweet chinese girl named emma. i love watching him make new friends!

i'll post more pictures when i can - one of the lenses broke on the camera, and we're getting it repaired. in the meantime, i'm using a disposable! i almost forgot how to use one of these ;0) i'm so spoiled...

no vacuums!

as i continue to grow, i am becoming more aware of my surroundings... of the people who hold me, of animals outside my window, of my parent's presence....

i never used to be afraid of the vacuum cleaner... until today. mama was vacuuming the floor, and that BEAST sucked up one of my blankets. it scared me so much, i started crying!! i put up a fuss for the entire time mama tried to finish cleaning.... only letting her vacuum if she held me close. it's just so loud and big! yikes...

i started solids last week, and boy do i love it! i eat every night before i go bed, and sleep the whole night through :) mama and daddy are much more rested in the morning, as am i! we get to take walks during the day, as well as go swimming, visit the farmer's market, and... mama has promised to take me to the zoo and the gardens sometime this summer!

so much to see and learn about! how exciting :) i love life, and so far, it's been awesome! ok, bye

me, practicing my new tongue movements! this comes in handy when mama and daddy feed me my yummy oats! boy, do i love my solids!

i love to stand up! doctor wood said that i may start totting around before i even crawl - i have wonderfully defined quads :) and i practice every day. however, mama needs to start doing more tummy time with me!! i'm getting there, but haven't quite mastered the art of crawling.

cousin caleb and i love each other! here we are, reunited in wisconsin! some day soon, we'll live close enough to one another, so that we can play together every day!!

here i am playing on the floor with papa. he's one of my most favorite people in the world! he's promised to take me and caleb camping and fishing when we get older. i can't wait!

sometimes i get cranky when i'm hungry or tired. here is such a moment of weakness. what annoys me even more though? when mama won't put down her camera and tend to my needs!!! aargh!

so, as you can see, i am growing bigger and stronger ever day! at my last appointment, i weighed almost 15 lbs and was 26 inches long. i am teething and started solids a few days ago. i am laughing and playing every day with my parents... life is very good to me! the only thing of which i will protest - i don't like this humid weather! mama lets me run around in my diaper most times, when it's so muggy... so that's fun. i can't wait to go swimming again too! yay for summer :)
